Raya Wolfsun is an incredibly talented artist, writer, performer, and scholar. The work pictured on the left, 'Melanippe,' was inspired by my poem 'Blackmare.' Raya and I hope to collaborate on a project that will combine our love for myth, art, and the written word, so stay tuned!
Between 2013 and 2015, I was a first reader for Goldfish Grimm, edited by Kelly Stiles and Michael Haynes. There is lots of free fiction to enjoy.
Kraken Press is a new but highly devoted independent publisher of dark speculative fiction. They have excellent taste and do amazing art in-house. George Cotronis, the person behind all this, blogs here. Also, check out Aghast, their new bi-annual journal of horror and dark fantasy.
Scribophile is an online platform where writers can give and receive critiques on works of various genres and formats. It is a truly invaluable resource, and a great place to discuss one's craft with other writers. This is also where I met some wonderful authors, such as Vajra Chandrasekera, Tess Grantham, Alexis A. Hunter, and many others.
Kate Wakeling is a writer, researcher and performer based in London.
She is currently writer-in-residence for Aurora Orchestra and her creative writing has featured on BBC Radio 3, Rialto, South Bank Poetry magazine, and elsewhere. She is also trained in Balinese dance, holds a PhD in ethnomusicology from SOAS, and is amazingly fun to be around. Her pamphlet, The Rainbow Faults was just published by Rialto.
